As the global workforce comes to grip with the reality of working from home for the foreseeable future, bosses and managers are now scrambling to make a decision on whether to keep the five days’ office week permanent (when it is safe to do so) again as employees are now becoming increasingly reluctant to go back the way things were.

A massive shift has come to the global job market and now have an important choice to make whether try to go back to the way things were once everything has returned to normal or try look into the future to create a completely different vision of the workplace for the benefit of the employee.

No doubt, work from home is popular and so many at the moment, quite necessary. As with anything else in life, there are certain pros and cons when it comes to working from home.

For one, work from home offers unfiltered flexibility to one and provides adequate work life balance due to a lack of community to work. Chief among them, reduced human interaction among colleagues and co-workers will encourage poorer communication in the long-run as nothing will truly replace the face-to-face meetings and chats with another human being in the workplace.

Secondly, the office won’t be able to foster a unique working culture when every single one of employees are separated by a digital wall/monitor. With work from home, won’t have the opportunity to have physical interactions with co-workers and subsequently, there won’t be a relevant office culture to go back once everything has opened up.

Work from home has effectively dissolved the boundaries that have been set up to separate our personal time from work time. When work from home, the bosses and managers are expecting the employee to be available at any time of the day, regardless whether they are on the clock or not.
